The Laura Barnes vineyard was the first Yarra Valley site bought by the Rathbone family, owners of Yering Station. Named after their adored grandmother, this special single vineyard wine is expressive of site. The 2024 release displays intricate savoury notes of foraged mushroom, with beautifully ripe cherry lifting the back of the palate.⁠

Earlier this week, the Yering Station team got their hands dirty—planting 1,000 native trees, grasses and shrubs across our Laura Barnes vineyard in partnership with the TreeProject and the Yarra Ranges Council’s Ribbons of Green program.⁠
⁠
This reforestation effort supports one of our core sustainability pillars: enhancing biodiversity and regenerating the land we steward. A rich mix of native species were planted, from Golden Wattle to River Bottlebrush. These plantings help restore habitat, stabilise soil, improve water retention, and encourage beneficial insect populations across our vineyard landscape.⁠

"This initiative not only strengthens our commitment to sustainable viticulture but also helps create a more balanced ecosystem for growing premium grapes." ⁠says Vineyard Manager Chris Crawford.⁠

Viticulturist Rod Harrison adds, "This regenerative approach supports vine health and resilience, aligning with Yering Station’s long-term sustainability goals and commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture."⁠
