Tasting Notes

Deep, inky, ruby red.
Rose petals, blood plums, dark liqorice and graphite.
Brimming with red currants, goji berries and a ripe plum centre dusted in nutmeg and charred cedar. Deeply concentrated in flavour and tannin, yet so structurally fine this wine flows through with an ethereal elegance. The finish persists with an autumnal perfume of fallen leaves and fading floral giving freshness and grace, drawing you back in for more.

98/2% cabernet sauvignon/merlot matured in French barriques (16% new). All Coldstream fruit from two vineyards. A medium, bright crimson-ruby. Gorgeous aromatics with its bouquet of red and black fruits, a little cigar box and lightly crushed violets. The palate is both super elegant yet with good depth and persistence. Svelte tannins ensure this will age gracefully over at least the next 10 years, if not longer.

One portion is on skins for 19 days, the other for 10 weeks. Matured in 16% new oak for 15 months. Satsuma plums, steeped goji berries and redskin is countered by blackcurrants and fig skin. Carob and nigella seed spice. Oak trails in the fruits wake, sounding echoes of cassia and brown earth. This is stunning now, shockingly so! Tannins a fine sandpaper surface extended out by fine acidity. Yes there is the framework for another decade in your cellar but you absolutely must try this now, if only just to gauge just how bloody stellar it’s going to be in say 8-10 years. I am shooketh, this is the beauty of Yarra Cabernet and it’s pretty hard to beat. Serve with milky slivers of Hanwoo beef, lightly charred and wonder why we ever deviated from cool climate Cabernet and beef.

An epic red from any standpoint. Compact and concentrated, blue fruits, inky and rich but with the requisite tension of fine, silty tannin holding things compact and extracting maximum length from the wine. Chiselled, almost minerally profile to the textural feel too. Violet floral lift, sandalwood, dark cherry and cassis abound. Beauty in the glass.

Youthful, bright red and vibrant in the glass. Aromas of blackberry, bramble, violets, cedar, dried herbs, pot pourri, mulberry and ferrous earth. Bright, dark fruited, crunchy and punchy. There’s lovely structure, line and presence, with a very pure drive of fruit, tannin and perky acidity. Complex, layered and built for the long haul.

Complex and layered, showing black currants and spicy herbs unfolding over hints of walnuts and asphalt with a savory nuance. Full-bodied yet precise, framed by fine tannins and vibrant acidity that lend clarity and persistence. Beautifully integrated, finishing long and focused with mineral tension. Drink or hold.
