These days, most producers tend to drop the word viognier off the label, but Yering's always kept it there, and you can see why. It's part of the brand; it's part of the expression of the wine. The density and richness of the shiraz drives it through to its finish. This is such a well-balanced wine, and that little dab of perfumed concentrate of the viognier just gives it that final lift and flourish. A delightful wine.

Raspberry jam and chantilly cream, rose petals, cedar and spice, with developing notes of pot-pourri and Napa leather. The palate is ripe, elegant but generous, juicy and layered, with sawdusty tannins that provide structure without overpowering. Savoury and grippy on the finish, showing depth and refinement.

Co-fermented with 3% viognier; matured in 20% new French oak. A deep, plummy red. Bright and perfumed. Black and blue fruited, there's some licorice and tapenade to go with the viognier-induced florals. Medium bodied, this flows evenly across the palate with superfine, persistent tannins giving the wine enough structure to still be looking good five to seven years from now.

Aromas of Damson plums, violets, wild blackberries, pepper and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and acidity, giving notes of dark cherries, mulberries, spices and dried herbs. Fruit-driven with a savory edge.
