Our flagship Chardonnay. Only made in the very best years, using only the very best parcels of fruit.

This wine was barrel selected from two of our best batches. Barrel fermented in new and seasoned French oak. Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, this wine shows all the great hallmarks we look for in our Reserve Chardonnay. Wonderful intensity from the outset with white stone fruits and a wet slate, flinty reduction carried by a tight and linear line of driving acidity.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw gold.
White blossom, crushed cashews and hazelnuts with white nectarine and mandarin fruits.
A beautiful, textured silken and poised palate. Full of juicy peach, nectarine, almond praline and toasty French oak highlights. Flavour and texture glide effortlessly across the palate thanks to the bright, mineral acidity which provides the backbone of this wine’s structure, carrying each element through to a long finish.
Drinking beautifully now but will also reward patient cellaring over the next 10+ years.

Quite the chameleon, this Yarra Valley Chardonnay isn’t about to lay everything out in front of the drinker. This little beauty does a slow reveal, a wine that forces you to keep returning to the glass to explore more. And you’ve gotta love that. It’s quiet to start – and here’s a warning not to overchill – but slowly aromas surface. It’s a youngster, it shows, as citrus, white peach, almond and light spices emerge. It’s reserved more than in name, tightly formed with layers and flavours still evolving, but the palate alerts you to the depths yet to be fully explored, the concentration of summer fruits, quince, citrus and toasted almond and vanilla. There’s real substance and weight here, and what poise. This is a keeper.

Textured, balanced and with a super intensity driving through the palate, this is high class Chardonnay from the Yarra valley. The aromas are immediately engaging with distinctive notes of cashew syncing with the primary tight mandarin and cumquat aromas. The palate is beautifully textured, displaying a nice touch of oak and a defining minerality. A savoury edge completes a first-rate wine.

Barrel fermented and matured in French puncheons (14% new). A deep-ish, bright green gold. Perfectly ripened white nectarines, pear skin and lightly grilled cashew are woven together in this complex Yarra chardonnay. On the palate, this is textured and structured, finishing chalky, grapefruit pithy and long.

Matured in 14% new barrels for 10 months with zero malolactic fermentation. Citron zest, grapefruit juice and grated ginger. Burdock root, crunchy white peach and sesame paste. Almond meal creaminess with a slurp of sea spray and lemon myrtle. The wine teeters on savoury and flair of pure citrus the Yarra demonstrates so well. Fine boned with an almost Chablis inspired marine feel from the elegant 2022 vintage. Drink now and will cellar well for another 8 years. Enjoy with lemongrass and garlic mussels.

Mid yellow colour, the bouquet showing creamy lees, chalk and understated lemon/citrus and nougat, oatmeal and toasted hazelnut complexities. Subtle smoky and buttery hints. The wine is refined and focused, taut and beautifully balanced with nothing out of place. Brilliant line and length. This will reward cellaring and have a long happy life.

When the Yarra Valley nails a chardonnay, its superb drinking. This is right on the money – not cheap, but there’s no denying the quality. Peach flavours mostly, hovering between yellow peach and the more tangy citrus of white peach, throw in some white flowers and nuts, a hint of quality oak … all fine, yet robust at the same time. Lovely.
