All 2017-planted Abel clone, which has contributed to the Reserve Pinot from the start. A light, bright ruby red. Gently perfumed with aromas of red and blue fruits along with some attractive sous bois scents. The delicacy continues on the light- to medium-bodied and nicely poised palate. The tannins are super slinky and, while this is already a pleasure to drink, I can see this ageing gracefully over the next four to six years.

Destemmed fruit to open pot fermenters, aged in seasoned French oak barrels for 10 months. From 7 year old Abel clones. Rose petal, raspberry leaf, cranberry and red Christmas cherries. The palate curls in sultry coils, with more viscosity than the colour and sight indicate. There is a density and slight oiliness in the middle palate that shows the completeness that seasoned oak imparts. There is a blue plum skin on the finish and some brown leaf litter and cumin too. The sphere-like shape of the wine is where the real pleasure lies. Served in a big Burgundy glass, alongside some centre cut pork chops for really showing off its fine lines and almost gossamer like feel. Drink now or cellar for another 3-4 years.
