Found all over, is Yering Station Pinot Noir. What a workhorse of a pinot noir. Good go-to wine, it feels. Sappy pinot of ash-dusted tannins and slightly bitter oak profile, but on the whole, pretty high drinkability. It’s scented like red cherry, raspberry, rose petal pot pourri, green pepper corn and sage herbal character, touch of choc-nut oak. Satiny-texture, with, yeah, a sappy kind of tackiness to texture, not too untoward, but certainly a little application of the handbrake in finesse. The finish is a squirt of bitter orangey acidity that kind of sticks out too. Overall, no denying that supple, come hither feel that sort of is the take away message. Quite even keeled and a smooth operator. Reliable choice, again.

A mighty pinot noir from the Yarra Valley where the variety reigns supreme. The complete package from Victoria’s first vineyard, trumpeting rich, intense berry flavours that have benefited from time in seasoned French oak to deliver a wine of great elegance, balance and majesty

Pitch perfect, easy drinking, sappy- textured pinot noir of cheery cherry fruitness and subtle spice characters. It’s got great perfume, shows whiffs of sandalwood among the red fruits, while palate is ribbed with smudged tannins. No brainer for accessible, great drinking pinot noir.

This is a clean, ripe, pure-fruit style of pinot with a good depth of colour, plus plenty of attractive fruit on the palate backed by some appealing grip. It fills the mouth and is lively and taut with a little closing firmness. It could benefit from a little more time.

Estate grown, matured in French puncheons for 11 months. The highly fragrant bouquet already has bewitching spicy notes, part fruit, part oak-derived. Spicy notes continue to flow through the long palate; with time, the oak will diminish and fruit spice will increase. The ’15 vintage was high in quality, as this wine demonstrates.
