2023 Single Vineyard Laura Barnes Pinot Noir

Laura Barnes was the first Yarra Valley vineyard bought by the proprietors of Yering Station, the Rathbone family, named after their adored grandmother. The 2023 Laura Barnes is expressive of this significant site, displaying savoury foraged mushroom notes, with beautifully ripe cherry lifting the back of the palate.

Ruby with a garnet hue.
Dark sweet, macerated strawberries with hints of balsamic. Earth and forest floor fresh with porcini mushroom and a beautiful undercurrent of spices.
Savoury in character, foraged mushroom, and beetroot but with a beautifully ripe cherry note just lifting the back of the palate. Silky and perfectly framed tannins create a beautiful flow to this expressive Pinot.

Professional Reviews

All clone MV6 from a vineyard in Yarra Glen replanted after the fires in '09. Matured in seasoned 500L French puncheons. Bright crimson red. Pretty and engaging with its aromas of crushed strawberries, redcurrants and juniper berries. The palate is light to medium bodied, nicely balanced but perhaps could do with a touch more weight and concentration at this price. Silky tannins round out a wine to enjoy now and over the next three to four years.
