2017 Scarlett Pinot Noir

$250.00
$1,500.00

Our finest wine. The pinnacle of our Pinot Noir. A very special label, born out of the precision viticulture program led by Nathan Scarlett. Nathan identified the unique expression of Pinot Noir delivered by our Y07 block in the best growing years. A notably softer and more elegant expression of Pinot Noir when compared to our Reserve. Only made in the very best years.

Intimate and seductive, red and black cherries combine with subtle earth spices. Elegant, beautiful, complex and powerful – the finish is a spectacular flourish of ripe fruit and fine-boned tannins.

A sublime wine of purity and precision, first up in the fragrances of spice and violets, and thereafter in the long, immaculately poised palate, led by small red fruits. It encapsulates the vintage, the variety and the terroir, all contributing, none (with the possible exception of the vintage) dominating.

A superb colour: deep red/purple, bright and vibrant. Concentrated black cherry to sniff, with oak and whole-brunch making their contributions but remaining in the background. There is a slightly chewy tannin finish which has a pleasant hint of bitterness, the tannins ripe and supple and promising to hold the wine in good stead as it ages. A gorgeous wine, full-bodied and rich as plush, glorious to drink now but promising more in the future. Very impressive indeed.
